Providence is calling a NAC Intern 1 - Resident Companion (Per Diem, Variable shift) to work in the Transitional Care at Providence Marianwood in Issaquah, WA
The NAC Intern 1 - Resident Companion will assist the unit Nurses and Nursing Assistants in their day-to-day customer service aspects to enhance the overall patient experience at PMW/PMSV. This position seeks to meet resident social and emotional needs through frequent interaction, activities, and non-clinical personal attention. Support of clinical staff with supplemental tasks to alleviates strain on clinical caregivers, allowing their time to be focused on provision of direct patient care.

In this position you will:
HOSPITATLITY FUNCTIONS
Assist residents with companionship providing psychosocial relief due to extended isolation
Living quarter upkeep: assists staff with bed-making and general room tidiness/maintenance, removal of dirty linen and trash
Answer call lights as needed; relate needs to appropriate care team member
Assist with meal tray delivery and set-up during meal times
Refill ice waters and replace liners
Restock briefs, towels/wash cloths, toiletries as needed on assigned unit
Coordinate with bath aide to strip/make beds per shower schedule
Assist staff with facilitation of family visits (when applicable per regulation)
Collaborate with Activities staff to assist with socially distanced resident activities
Offer 1:1 time (conversation, games, manicures, hair styling, or assistance with completing menus)
Provide patient transport in-facility, such as to dining room or reception area when needed (clinical staff will provide transfer in to and out-of wheelchair)
RESIDENT SAFETY AND SANITATION
Follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies
Participate in appropriate in-service training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to blood/body fluids
Participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills in a safe and professional manner
Follow established infection control procedures when isolation precautions become necessary
Follow established procedures in the use and disposal of personal protective equipment
Report hazardous conditions or equipment to the appropriate person
Follow established hand washing techniques
EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLY FUNCTIONS
Follow established preventive maintenance procedures for maintaining your equipment and supplies in a safe and operable manner
Change out urinals, bedpans, disinfect wheelchairs, oxygen tubing changes, labeling as appropriate
RESIDENT RIGHTS
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
Treat all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect
Knock before entering the residents room
Review complaints and grievances made by the resident and make a written/oral report to the Nurse Manager/Supervisor
Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property
SAFETY
Use appropriate safety guidelines and precautions
Demonstrate safe handling skills and use of equipment
Participate and demonstrate knowledge of fire and disaster plans
Report any equipment safety hazard appropriately
Follow universal precaution procedures
Observs principles of good body mechanics
Demonstrate pro-active approach to patient safety needs
PROFESSIONALISM
Consistently prompt to assigned tasks
Begin work on time
Write legibly
Adhere to department dress code
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Inform appropriate team members of resident's condition changes, falls, and other problems
Communicate appropriate information to other team members
STAFFING
Cooperate when asked to adjust schedule to meet patient and department needs, including floating to any area
Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Six (6) months of experience as an Home Health Aide
Home Health Aide or Nursing Assistant
