Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Service Engineer 1 - Windows Server Engineering to our location in Renton, WA; Redmond, WA; Portland, OR; Irivine, CA or Beaverton, OR.

In this role, you will partner with other engineers, developers, testers, and program managers, to design, operate, grow, and improve large-scale, computer-based services offered to clinical and non-clinical caregivers. You will support various enterprise level projects working in either a Waterfall or Agile model, you'll work in ITIL-based workflows on break/fix and requests from caregivers across the enterprise, and you will directly support efforts to Simplify, Modernize, Secure, and Automate within the Windows Server service. You will also have the opportunity to learn new technologies as we transform our infrastructure and at the same time learn healthcare services. In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Applies the team’s standards and best practices to his or her own work to design high-performance, manageable services.

  • Understand the current service delivery system and collate issues to provide visibility into issues.

  • Performs troubleshooting of service issues to restore service with minimal disruption to the caregiver and business. Owns the problem, solving it once and for all. Extrapolates from past experiences and delivers innovations.

  • Actively takes part in disaster recovery drills. Participates as needed in incident response management during non-working hours.

  • Uses expertise to identify relevant data for capacity requirements, based on service KPIs and evolving caregiver usage scenarios.

  • Uses expertise to identify relevant data, and provides analysis on actual versus projected capacity requirements, based on service KPIs, evolving caregiver usage scenarios, and new feature releases to enable the team to create a viable cost model.

  • Participates in triaging and uses problem management tools (such as root cause analysis, trend analysis, and postmortems). Contributes to and implements a solution.

  • Ensures that production solutions are reliable, resilient, secure and effective and continuously monitored.

  • Collects metrics (such as service availability data, performance measures, system health, and long-term trends) to support service intelligence analysis.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or equivalent.

  • 1 year in Related experience.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • 1-3 years of related experience (managing windows servers in an enterprise setting).
