Providence Health & Services VP, IS & RESO Strategy and Business Performance in Redmond, Washington


The Vice President (VP), IS and RESO Strategy and Business Performance leads the strategic planning process and mechanisms to drive high levels of financial, organizational, mission and business performance across a combined IS and RESO organization. This role drives the definition of strategic priorities as well as the structure, including processes, cadence, accountabilities, analytics, communication and operational support to enable high performance delivery and execution on all IS and RESO areas.

  • IS and RESO Strategic Planning : Leads the annual development of a multiyear strategic plan for IS and RESO. This includes the definition of top strategic priorities across these organizations. This plan will also be used as the basis for capital plan and future investment for IS. This involves close partnership and collaboration with the EVP and CIO as well as EVP, SVP and GVP stakeholders within IS and RESO, IS , HR, FInance, etc.

  • Partners closely with EVP/CIO and GVP IS Strategy and CoE to build high level strategic narratives. Can act as a proxy for EVP and CIO at certain forums. Can articulate key messaging on behalf of EVP and CIO for internal and external audiences at all levels.

  • IS and RESO Business Operations : Leads the work to simplify, modernize and run processes, supporting tools and reporting to enable efficient operations across these organizations. This requires close partnership with system stakeholders in procurement, supply chain, contracting and AP as well as change management and coordination with stakeholders across IS and RESO functional areas.

  • IS and RESO Business Management : Leads overall business operations for IS to ensure financial and operating performance, Job family structure, talent development, awards and recognition, and the overall ongoing rhythm of business for IS. Ensures appropriate meeting cadence, routine metric reporting, workforce planning, engagement planning, and other core department objectives are planned, monitored and executed per the enterprise schedule.

  • IS and RESO Organizational Communications : Leads the ongoing organizational communications that ensure appropriate level of awareness and engagement across the IS and RESO caregivers. Focuses on building a culture of engagement, inclusion, transparency and collaboration through these vehicles and the use of executive leaders voice and presence. Also, responsible for building communication artifacts and messaging that effectively represent IS and RESO at key internal and external executivel leader forums.


  • Executive level collaboration with all members of the IS and RESO leadership team in order to facilitate informed and transparent IS and RESO decisions.

  • Effectively tackles complex business problems, operational scenarios, and related financial implications; completes financial models for operations and identifies areas of opportunity; develops executive-level proposals that enable senior leadership to make informed business decisions.

  • Builds the right structure to support strategic planning, ongoing monitoring and excellence in execution across IS and RESO.

  • Sevant Leader who mentors, develops, recruits and retains a dynamic, mission driven, highly qualified, proactive and service oriented team, fosters an environment that promotes professional growth and staff development through effective leadership and education.

  • Assesses activities which includes identifying, assessing, designing, implementing, and value capture of opportunities to simplify, modernize and innovate the business operation of IS and RESO.

  • Leads design, development, and implementation of improved organizational processes, policies, workflows, job structures, and organizational systems .

  • Sets strategic direction to build an IS and RESO organizational culture through effective and comprehensive communication vehicles and the appropriate use of leadership voices

  • Builds strong business partnerships with key stakeholders in Finance, HR , Org communications and other areas across Providence for optimal collaboration, and support of IS and RESO performance and strategic goals' success


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing OR Computer Science.

  • 10 or more years of defining and building IT Strategy planning, IT Business management, process transformation, business operations roles.

  • 10 or more years in a Leadership role, leading teams responsible for communications, strategy and business operations teams.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills.

  • Excellent collaboration and team building skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Business Management

  • Coursework/Training in Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, Prosci

  • 5 or more years of experience in Chief of Staff or equivalent as direct report of C level executives in large organziations.

  • 5 or more years of experience and knowledge leading operational processes improvement, quality and modernization.
