Providence is calling a Cook (1.0 FTE, EVENING SHIFT) to the Food and Nutrition Services at Providence Mount St. Vincent in Seattle, Washington. This position is responsible for providing seamless customer service in the area of meals/floor stock/nourishment/food preferences. Handles food according to HACCP guidelines and is aware of minimum standards for a quality food service operation. Adheres to standard recipes and plating guidelines. Responsible for accuracy of all assembled meal orders, maintaining par stocks, ordering supplies and rotating product for maximum quality. Interacts with other employees in a friendly and courteous manner. Acts as an effective customer service liaison to all customers and facility departments.

In this position you will:
Prepares orders for residents, staff, visitor and catering using standardized back-up recipes and service and/or plating guidelines.
Notes variances in recipes and plating guidelines and communicates challenges to executive chef/manager.
Adheres to “clean as you go” practice and maintains workstations as dictated in master cleaning schedule.
Completes production par lists, freezer pull lists, pre-meal checklist, requisitioning and waste sheets
Maintains adequate and quality supplies for assigned work area without overstocking.
Adheres to safe work habits as dictated by OSHA and other standards established by department.
Adheres to policies and procedures to ensure consistency in the guest experience.
Interacts with others and works in accordance with department standards, as well as local, state and federal agency guidelines.
Maintains overall cleanliness and sanitation of work areas.
Monitors food quantities and works with production staff to minimize food waste.
Participates in all staff meetings, mandatory in-services and training programs to ensure continued understanding of all department policies, procedures and CQI
Programs and processes.
Participates in unit/department performance improvement activities to ensure the development and implementation of processes, which support quality service and effective work performances.
Uses printer, telephone, voice mail and paging technology.
Effectively manages tasks and overall time management in an effort to be prepared for challenges that may occur.
Understand and effectively demonstrates the “Core Competencies” as outlined.
Consistently demonstrate leadership ability and team coordination of food preparation from a “Full Plate” concept for each meal service.
Consistently demonstrates advanced culinary skills and techniques surrounding high quality small batch cooking.
Consistently demonstrate advanced high volume culinary skills to include preparation, sauté, blanch, poach, grill, steam, boil, simmer, deep fry, braise, roast, sear and emulsify.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High School Diploma or GED
Food Handler's Permit (or must obtain within 14 days of hire)
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
4 years of experience as a cook in a culinary environment (prep work and/or grill work)
Customer service experience
