Providence Health & Services Executive Director of Financial Operations, Physician Enterprise in Seattle, Washington
The Executive Director of Financial Operations, Physician Enterprise is responsible for overseeing the finance support functions that sustain the various ministries and organizations within a region or Line of Business. These include oversight of productivity and benchmarking, costing, analytics, support for monthly close process, pro forma developments of business opportunities, long range planning for the region, capital planning for the region, forecasting summarization for the region, operational budgeting summarization for the region as well as other reporting as requested by either regional or system leadership. The Executive Director will oversee staffing assigned to such functions and will coordinate these activities with the finance leads and personnel embedded in service areas or ministries throughout the region. This role will be the primary contact with system financial planning and analytics staff for regional requests.
The Executive Director of Financial Operations, Physician Enterprise will:
Assist the Physician Enterprise Chief Financial Officer and Senior Operational Leaders in financial oversight of assigned ministries.
Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the mission, values and vision of Providence St. Joseph Health.
Monitor financial performance of the ministry/ministries to ensure achievement of financial targets.
Assist in the production of accurate financial statements, reflective of operational and clinical services provided at assigned ministries, inclusive of contractual analysis, recording of other net income, and accurate accrual of all expenses.
Assist in the review and monitoring of statistical information in order to accurately reflect operational and clinical services.
Collaborate with regional finance team in the budget and strategic financial planning process for assigned ministries.
Work with other regional finance team members, ministry departmental managers and ministry senior leaders to perform budget variance analysis and to develop and implement improvement plans.
Coordinate with ministry administrator on a monthly financial review process.
Support productivity management through measurement processes including target setting, and in consideration of benchmarking data. Assist leaders throughout accountable ministries with implementation of staffing matrices.
Participate in ministry management meetings.
Assist with review of Physician Enterprise (a/k/a medical group) financial information in order to inform and improve operational plans. Support management in understanding the economics related to medical groups.
Lead special projects as assigned by Physician Enterprise Chief Financial Officer and perform other duties as assigned.
Collaborate and engage with other finance team members across the system to share best practices and accomplish system-wide initiatives.
Collaborate with Physician Enterprise leadership team to ensure consistent standards of care, employee performance and financial management processes are applied to ensure accreditation and regulatory guidelines are met.
Provide leadership to ensure the overall finance role is understood in the organization and broader community.
Communicate clearly, regularly and effectively with all levels and functions of the organization to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, openness and encouragement.
Required qualifications and experience for this position include:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; or related field
At least 5 years in a leadership role or capacity
At least 5 years of related experience.
Ability to use mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Ability to analyze information, evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Knowledge of financial principles and practices and the ability to apply them effectively

Preferred qualifications and experience for this position include:
- Other certifications such as HFMA or FACHE.
