Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior BI Developer PSJH to our location in Seattle, WA.
We are seeking a Senior BI Developer to be responsible in supporting the organization and its strategic affiliates by taking a leadership role in the development of meaningful reporting and analytic solutions. This position will oversee the gathering of business needs and requirements documentation, provide guidance in identifying appropriate data sources, develop and update reporting objects, provide analysis, and deliver solutions to both internal and external stakeholders. This position is also responsible for interpreting HI developed reporting and analytical solutions to help to customers in gaining insight about their areas of accountability and in making strategic decisions. This role is expected to serve as a strong mentor for less experienced analysts in the department to help them develop efficient ways of creating reporting and analytics solutions. This role works with a diverse set of stakeholders and is responsible for leading large reporting and analytics projects across multiple regions or stakeholder groups. This role will be accountable for the effective execution and delivery of projects and solutions while coordinating the recourses assigned to these bodies of work. This position may be responsible for the development and implementation of semantic data layer objects, such as Business Objects Universes, data marts, and custom database objects (in coordination with the BI Developer roles), to support reporting and analytics solutions for the Providence organization. Additionally, this position may require the creation of presentation layer objects like interactive reports, scorecards, and dashboards and may be responsible for leading development efforts.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Provide high level analytic expertise for the development of complex reporting and analytical Business Intelligence (BI) solutions utilizing various tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and Business Objects. Develop, implement and maintain data solutions utilizing appropriate software languages, including SQL, Business Objects, Toad, and emerging languages such as Python and Spark. Translate from functional requirements to technical specifications.
Work with a diverse set of leaders, customers, and stakeholders across the organization to understand, document and outline specific requests for work. Demonstrate an open willingness to listen and learn clinical or business needs, then develop solutions of excellent quality (as measured by performance, data integrity, following HI coding standards). These solutions should also provide complex and integrated answers to a suite of questions.
Design, Model, Develop, and deploy HI solutions (applications and technologies which are used to acquire, transform, model, analyze and report information) for end-to-end analytics utilizing tools including Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Power BI, and other related BI tools.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting and analytical solutions, processes and practices utilizing standard methodologies across HI.
Provide guidance, coordination and assignment for HI resources assigned to projects or bodies of work relevant to the accountabilities and responsibilities of the analyst.
Participation in BI solution design to support business and/or clinical operations and programs utilizing latest technologies and standard HI methodologies.
Communicate and escalate major issues promptly to management, HI leadership, team members, customers as appropriate.
Resolve production problems and issues through root cause analysis, data investigation, QA and testing.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Public Health, Business Management, Information Services or equivalent education or experience.
5 years of experience in Healthcare Business Intelligence or related field specific to Business Intelligence
7 years of experience in utilization of reporting and analytic tools and techniques
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to elicit, analyze and communicate business requirements from multiple customers.
Ability to represent company with external customers/clients.
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and to organize workload to ensure that time frames are met and the work is successfully completed within deadlines.
Demonstrated skills in project plan design and implementation; directing projects, coordinating the work of operational teams, and managing project budgets.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Computer Science, Public Health, Business Management, Information Services.
