Providence Health & Services Senior Provider Compensation Consultant PSJH in Seattle, Washington


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Senior Provider Compensation Consultant PSJH to our location in Seattle, WA.

We are seeking a Senior Provider Compensation Consultant PSJH to be responsible for the development and analysis of provider compensation plans in support of assigned business unit(s). Functions as a thought leader with executive leadership teams, leading strategic compensation design and implementing new programs and best practices. Provides input on and and implements policies, procedures and processes on a system-wide basis and provides consultative services, communication and training regarding new and existing compensation programs and issues. Functions in a lead capacity, providing support, training and mentorship to other team members. As a senior consultant, is responsible to manage and support multiple, often more complex, business/leadership teams. Performs all duties in a manner that promotes team concepts and reflects the Sisters of Providence mission and philosophy.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Manages, designs, develops and implements provider compensation plans for assigned business unit(s).

  • Guide leaders and managers on the use of provider compensation tools and programs to support the strategic objectives of their business line, while managing/increasing alignment of provider compensation programs across the system. Monitors effectiveness of current programs and recommends changes while navigating the needs for change management, communication and internal politics/resistance.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert regarding the impact of federal Anti-trust requirements, Stark regulations and IRS Anti-kickback regulations on provider plan designs.

  • Performs highly complex market studies and current state analysis in reviews of existing specialties and individual physicians. Leads work for assigned business units and/or participate as a team member in large scale organizational initiatives and acquisitions.

  • Responsible for taking the compensation lead in a variety of acquisition projects. Works directly with acquisition teams as a resource for FMV review, compensation plan design, analysis of issues with coding, data gathering, and process issue resolution

  • Participates in or leads cross-functional teams to provide support to physician group, hospital and system executives based an understanding of clients and their needs.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care, human resources, business, finance, or related area. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not required.

  • 5 years of experience in progressively responsible roles with demonstrated experience some, if not all, of the following: provider compensation design, finance, physician practice management and/or project and change management.

  • In depth knowledge of regulations related to physician compensation (Stark, IRS Anti-kickback, etc.).

  • Ability to lead project teams and train/mentor others.

  • Strong knowledge of project management including resource planning, analysis skills, negotiation facilitation and development of necessary documentation.

  • Experienced with a variety of forecasting and modeling techniques. Expert skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply complex mathematical and/or statistical methodology for data compilation and analysis; and the ability to translate the analysis into actionable tasks.

  • Strong team orientation and organizational skills with the ability to be flexible with time and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate positively, effectively, and professionally both verbally and in writing. Ability to manage crucial conversations is a positive manner is essential.

  • Able to develop communication plans and messages to leadership, management and staff, including the ability to integrate, deliver and effectively communicate out strategic priorities. Change management skills and political savvy are essential to success in this role

  • Responsive service orientation -- positive, "can do" approach to initiatives, problems and solutions.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, but not required.

  • Experience as a strategic partner/consultant
