Providence is calling a Chaplain (Hospice Seattle, Day Shift, Per Diem) to Providence Hospice of Seattle in Tukwila, Washington. In this position you will:
Assess the spiritual needs and resources of the hospice patient, family, other care givers, and friends and assist with families using their faith in dealing with End of Life issues.
Establish and implement a plan of care and age appropriate spiritual interventions in accordance with the team’s goals.
Provide counseling for the dying person to develop and strengthen his/her own spiritual beliefs and resources throughout the dying process.
Facilitate development of appropriate spiritual expressions within Hospice team and with patients, family and friends.
Provide safe and positive environment for families to express their faith on their own meaningful ways, and serves as a resource in response to the patients’ and their families’ spiritual needs.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master’s Degree in theology, religious studies or religious education from a school accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
Completion of 4 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) units
Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification earned through training approved by the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association
Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), National Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC) preferred; eligibility for and completion of certification within 3 years of the date of hire
Ecclesiastical Endorsement by a recognized faith group for ministry in a specialized setting
Ordination or commissioning to function in a ministry of pastoral care
Valid Washington State driver's license and insured, reliable vehicle
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- 2 years of chaplain experience
