The Safe Crossings Coordinator provides leadership and direction for the Safe Crossings Program which serves families with children whose loved one has been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Duties include oversight of Safe Crossings staff and programs, as well as providing ongoing program evaluation to assure effectiveness of services. Additionally, the Safe Crossings Coordinator provides clinical supervision to the Camp Erin Coordinator and supports the Safe Crossings Counselor Camp Erin Clinical Lead in the training and oversight of Volunteers who are assisting with clinical program offerings at camp. Serves as a clinical expert to the community as related to the needs of grieving children. Provides program statistics in support of continued funding and meets with funding sources as representative of the program.
In this position you will:
Plan, develop and implement Safe Crossings program goals, objectives, and policies and procedures in collaboration with the Mgr, Grief Support Services for the clinical support of families with children experiencing grief and loss.
Supervise Safe Crossings staff in clinical aspects, including: In coordination with Manager, Grief Support Services assist in management of Safe Crossing staff including: selection, training, work assignment and scheduling, and performance management. Clinically supervise Safe Crossings staff and Volunteers who are involved in program offerings, including Camp Erin. Provides joint visit support for Safe Crossings clinical staff with complicated situations requiring additional support and guidance for the clinician. Apprise Manager, Grief Support Services of staff caseload and acuity level of program referrals to enable optimum decision-making regarding effective delivery of services.
Develop and deliver educational programs concerning children’s grief responses to schools, agencies, and private clinicians who care for children.
Provide support services to school or agency staff, students, or families of students in the event of the terminal illness or sudden death of a child.
Maintain close working relationships with other children’s grief support programs in the King County Community. Provide or coordinate content for the quarterly GSS Newsletter.
Provide educational presentations for the PHOS staff as needed.
Develop tools to document necessary demographic and statistical data to provide assistance to the Safe Crossings Foundation and the PHOS foundation in fundraising needs.
Maintain consistent communication with the Safe Crossings Foundation Board as needed.
Provide individual, group, and telephone counseling to bereaved hospice and community clients.
Maintain relationship with The Moyer Foundation as it relates to their support of Camp Erin.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Counseling, psychology, or social work
Current Social Work and/or Counseling Certification or License through Washington State Department of Health
Current Washington State Driver's license and automobile insurance
Current Healthcare Provider CPR certification
Three (3) years post master's work experience in children’s grief support, preferably in a hospice care or healthcare setting
Two (2) years experience supervising the work of others
Two (2) years experience program development related to children’s grief
